i-SCOPE Crowdsourcing

Crowdsourcing is a new business model, made possible thanks to the Internet and to the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In such a new model, a company delegates a part of the design, making or developing part of a product or a service, to an unorganized crowd.

i-SCOPE project is about creating services for Smart Cities, thus it is important to do crowdsourcing, not just to get more information at a lower cost and faster, but also to make the project known to the public and to be able to involve inhabitants. A city in fact, cannot be smart if its citizens aren't smart, in the meaning of using ICT technologies, and having the desire to collaborate, share and actively participate to public matters.

The challenge of a Smart City is to be able to enhance and effectively integrate the new "digital space of the city" with solutions and tools so as to achieve that civic empowerment, which is the real objective of the smart city. A reality made not only of roads, buildings and physical infrastructure, but a city connected, networked, where the measure of "smartness" is given by a different perception of quality of life, to which inhabitants contribute with their daily actions.

NoiseTube

NoiseTube is an application that transforms your smartphone into an acoustic detector to measure noise pollution in a precise place and at a right time.

Using NoiseTube you will be able to detect the noise of your street, block or city.

Are you tired of not being able to open the windows in the summer because of the constant noise? Do you live near a highway or in a particularly busy road?

From now on you can measure the noise that you perceive, by yourself, in real time, and with a smartphone.

The set of data collected from individuals, allows creating mediated map, where the noise is represented by different colors based on the decibel detected.

Moreover, if the acquisition is carried out in a systematic manner, e.g. more people who repeat the same path several times (at least 50 takeovers), it will be possible to create maps with statistically reliable values.

Call some friends, choose a path, even a short one, e.g. from home to school, from home to work, the way from the gym to the store, whatever is convenient for you!

Turn your smartphone on, start walking and measure!

To ensure that these applications are really useful and can bring an advantage to users and to municipalities that are interested in the project, we need to access a large amount of data and to work with people who are willing to share, participate, learn and inform.

i-SCOPE Crowdsourcing

Accendete i vostri smartphones, camminate e misurate!
